Motivation Australia was recently contracted to work with MacDonnell Shire Aged Care Service to provide training to increase the local Community Support Workers’ (CSWs) capacity to provide effective support for people with a mobility disability living in their community.
The MacDonnell Shire funding enabled us to work with eight communities in Central Australia who participated in the training that was developed specifically for the remote community context. The training aimed to increase the effectiveness of support provided to aged care clients living in the community through building a greater awareness of the benefits of this mobility and self care equipment for elderly people or those with a disability. The training also focused on actions that CSWs can carry out within their existing routines that would result in better support outcomes for those they are providing support for.
