Melanesia sub-regional CBR forum

Delegates at the sub regional CBR forum in the Solomon Islands

Motivation Australia was delighted to participate in the first Melanesia Sub-regional Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Forum, hosted by Persons with Disability Solomon Islands in Honiara last week and coordinated by the World Health Organisation, Pacific Island Forum Secretariat and Pacific Disability Forum.

The Forum followed on from the first Pacific Region CBR Forum, and represents a strengthening of CBR across the region. CBR is an important strategy to assist in the realisation of the rights of persons with disabilities; helping to improve and increase access to rehabilitation services, education and livelihood opportunities for people with a disability. The Forum was also an opportunity for Motivation Australia CEO Kylie Mines to meet with colleagues and partners from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands; and provide a presentation on monitoring and evaluating assistive device provision.
