Motivation Australia would like to congratulate eight staff from the PNG National Orthotics and Prosthetics Service (NOPS) and one physiotherapist from Cheshire Disability Services who have just completed the second stage of their intermediate level wheelchair service training.
Intermediate level training develops the skills and knowledge required to provide an appropriate wheelchair for children and adults who need additional support to sit upright. Intermediate level services see a range of clients, including children with Cerebral Palsy or adults with complex Post-Polio syndrome.
The first stage of the training occurred in July 2014, where participants completed Intermediate Level Wheelchair Service Training, utilising material from the WHO Wheelchair Service Training package – Intermediate Level (WSTP-I). The second stage of the training was focused on extending their clinical reasoning and reflection skills – as well as providing an opportunity to review and reinforce the key messages from the July training course.
Motivation Australia’s training team Lauren Flaherty and Ray Mines led the training in Lae, Morobe Province, PNG.
